Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is the fastest growing sport worldwide, and it has grown tremendously over the years.
In the Philippines, a fight organization dubbed the Underground Battle MMA (UGB MMA Corporation) was created to educate the public on the growing interest in the fight industry as well as establishing a new platform that will serve as an avenue for fighters to compete in amateur and professional-level fight leagues. It was founded by The Goat Locker Boxing Gym Founder and CEO Ferdinand A. Munsayac. A retired US Navy chief. His primary goal is to help the young, poverty-stricken but skilled boxers/Muay Thai/ Jiu Jitsu and MMA fighters develop their craft so they would be able to provide a brighter future anchored on the advocacy – “Beating Up Poverty” which is a commendable goal.
The Founder’s Filipino heritage is shown alongside his fundamental mission not just to grow the UGB MMA brand, but to reinforce his commitment to the Filipino fighters most of whom, like Pacquiao in boxing, comes from the fringes of poverty-stricken family backgrounds.
UGB MMA Corporation also offers events that have further established the company as a substantial mover in the fighting industry. The past events around the Philippines were held in Sta Lucia Mall in Cainta, to Puerto Galera, The World Trade Center, to Resorts World Manila for BLAZE FC2 and Blaze FC3, to small bars, fun fights and even to the cemetery. The last one was held in Cauayan Isabela, and it was successful.
From 2013 to 2018, UGBMMA has had 68 events in over 6 years which started in The Goat Locker Gym. .
Blow by Blow : UGB MMA Rebirth
Members of the media, sponsors, VIP’s, fighters, round girls, and performers were assembled together last 23rd of August 2019 for the much-awaited Press Conference entitled "UGB MMA Rebirth", which featured the relaunch of the UGB MMA brand from an amateur league to a full-fledged Professional League with Gab licenses.
This was 7 years in the making for the founder of UGB MMA Mr. Ferdinand A. Munsayac aka Papa Goat or Jefe. He waited and worked despite all the doubt and negativity to arrive to this point. After 68 events from 2013 to 2019, the professional license and good sponsors finally arrived, hence the successful press conference in the Ropali Classics showroom.
Despite the heavy rains and traffic, there was a good turnout for the UGB MMA Rebirth Press Conference. The four (4) pillars of the said company was honored and presented the vision casting such as Ropali Group of Classics General Manager, Mr. Rex Aldous Alingog, Mr. Carlos Pasion the President of Balai Cagayano, COO Mr. Toots Aldeguer and CEO Papagoat, Mr. Ferdinand A. Munsayac.
The Press Conference was hosted by Mr. Mikuni Munsayac and Ms. Danielle Jane Curie, with the opening prayer by Vice President Mr. Kuni who is also the social media manager/trainer and Blaze FC champion.
Improvements and updates of the UGB MMA rebirth.
● The New Logo was introduced.
● Top 5 recruits will get training scholarship under UGB MMA.
● The 8,300 sqm lot area with 2,000 sqm floor area arena has been opened in Sta. Ana Sports Complex, Sta Ana, Cagayan Valley where the office and trainings/fights will be held.
● On August 31, 2019 approximately 60 staffs – TV Crews, Kitchen Crews, Staffs and Fighters will be accommodated in the arena.
● UGB MMA will give free transportation, accommodation, and food for the employees and fighters. On top of that, the fighters also will receive free sets of uniforms wit jersey, shorts, and MMA gloves There will be three (3) fight events a week, a total of 12 events a month with at least 144 events in a year under the UGB MMA brand.
● The first scheduled UGB MMA event is on October 25th to 27th of 2019.
● The Bootcamps will start from September to November 2019. Exact date will be announced soon.
● The next batch of Bootcamp will be from January to March 2020.
● An old UGB MMA Classics fight show is in the process of being re-released it to the public.
● A new TV show is scheduled to be shown entitled UGB MMA Today. It is a show that will feature the life story of the fighter, with a special portion entitled “Pick Your Poison” where the round girl will demonstrate submission moves.
● A reality show during the boot camp will be shot soon.
● The TV network that will cover the live events is still under negotiation.
● Juego Todo Grand Championship will be at the end of 2019.
● A UGB magazine will be coming up for men with 1 special pull out with a UGB MMA round girl.
● UGBMMA Corporation is now a full fledged company where all the employees have the following benefits like SSS, Pag-Ibig, Philhealth and Life Insurance worth 3M per employee.
● CJ De Tomas the Golden Boy of UFC and Charles De Tomas will be the trainers for UGB MMA bootcamp.
