There are times that you feel like quiting...that you feel that you need to settle and not anymore pursue. Because of pains...of wounds...it seems that you need to stop!
This said feelings happened to me when I took my very first #ultramarathon, the 52km. Ninoy Aquino Day Ultramarathon in Tarlac, Pampanga last August 23, 2015.
Since this was my very first ultra, my first longest distance in a run (take note, nauna pa akong nag-ultra kesa mag-full marathon), damang-dama ko ung pananakit ng paa ko (added to the fact na puro uphills and downhills ang ruta). Until I saw the bloods flowing from my feet!
Naulanan pa at naarawan! I really want to stop. Pero sabi ko sa sarili ko, first ultra ko to, record-breaking pa kase I jumped from half-marathon to ultramarathon. So why should I stop?!
Therefore, I pursue...I pushed myself to the limit...I did not stop...I didn't settle!
And yes, I beat it! Though I was in pain and wounded...I still managed my first ultra strong pa din and kicking!
And because of this painful experience that didn't stop me, look at me now... a very successful and a certified ultramarathoner!
As of this day, I now have 8 trophies which correspond to the 8 ultramarathons that I have conquered. Hope that this one of my running stories serve as inspiration to the runners. They should not stop, pursue, and push themselves to the limit. (Runner Rocky)
