The 2016 Rio Olympics instantly turns into a huge trending topic specially when our very own Filipina player Hidilyn Diaz won an Olympic medal!
Hidilyn's victory in the said Olympic game was really a record breaking! First, she is the very first Pinay who won a victorious medal in an Olympic game. Second, she eventually turned as the new Olympic winner 20 years later after Mansueto 'Onyok' Velasco who won in the boxing way back in 1996 during the Atlanta Olympics. And third, she proved how strong Pinay is since her sports is extraordinary for female - a weightlifting!
The silver medalist Hidilyn was hailed from Zamboanga.
Aside from the silver medal which she won from the game, a million cash prize and a house and lot will be awarded to her.

An amount of Php5 Million is a cash reward stated in RA 10699 or National athletes, coaches and trainers Benefits Act, signed into law in 2015.
According to the Philippine Sports Commision (PSC), a “regular house and lot” will be awarded to a gold medalist. A bronze and silver medalist, like Diaz, will be awarded a “socialized housing unit." To define, a socialized housing unit is typically 35 square meters, with a floor area of 23.5 square meters.
Meanwhile a total of 40 awards of P10,000 will be given to athletes and their coaches.
