Photo Story: Concluding 2016 with a Relay Anniversary Ultramarathon - The #H2H Rizal Day 50K Ultra

H2H or the Hero 2 Hero Rizal Day Day 50K Ultramarathon which took place on December 29 to 30, 2016 was Runner Rocky's final race for the year. And yes, this was also our relay anniversary ultramarathon with my running buddy Julius Ceasar Aquebay. We had our very first relay tandem last year via this same run - the Rizal Day 50K Ultramarathon 2015.  

Organized by Run Mania Philippines Promotion or RunManiaPh, this ultramarathon running event is in commemoration of the death anniversary of our national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal. The race route navigated his hometown Laguna with a starting or finish line in his birth place, the Calamba Laguna.

Maybe you're curious why it was called as H2H or Hero 2 Hero in 2016? Simply because, the start line was in San Pablo Laguna Municipal Hall in Andres Bonifacio Monument and finish line was in Rizal Monument in Calamba with the huge statue of Jose Rizal. There from Andres Bonifacio to Jose Rizal, it was a Hero 2 Hero route!

Though I was again the first runner in our team, my turn was challenging. Aside from total darkness in my route, heavy rains and floods on the roads served as obstacles to Runner Rocky. But still, I managed to conquer them strong and kicking! With my running buddy Julius, we still alive and injury-free on the finish line!

This was my 43rd Running Event in 2016 concluding the year! I'm ready now to start my 2017 running event. And my very first running event this year - the Cebu Marathon this coming Sunday, January 8, 2017. A week after Laguna, Runner Rocky will be in Cebu! See you there runners! (Runner Rocky)
