True to its purpose and objective after its launch in 2019, MNL City Run: Running with a Purpose is now in high gear for its 2022 leg.
Organized by Rule & Rich Events Management in partnership with the City Government of Muntinlupa, Bagong Alabang and Bicolano Runner, MNL City Run invites professional runners, health enthusiasts and families to join them in raising awareness on mental health concerns that befalls our society today.
“Mental health is a very broad concern to begin with -- covering disorders like Anxiety disorders, PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) to Neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism and those diagnosed as mentally challenged. And as a health issue, mental health is now placed under a bigger spotlight after the world went through the pandemic. But here in MNL City Run, we feel that it would be best to focus our efforts to those who can’t help themselves. So, for this year, part of the proceeds will go to Elsie Gaches Village”, that’s why I am inviting you all to run with purpose and be an instant advocate for mental health awareness. said Ruel Regine Cruz, OIC and Founder of R&R Events Management.
Elsie Gaches Village (EGV) is a residential care facility in Alabang that provides care and rehabilitation to abandoned, neglected and abused by their own family and community with intellectual/mental impairments such as cerebral palsy, mental retardation, autism and other related illnesses. “To date, Elsie Gaches is home to about 600 residents. Almost 90% of which are fully dependent on house parents to take care of them. They really need our support in providing the basic day-to-day needs of these children”.
The charity run will happen on October 30, 2022, Sunday in time for the celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, at the Pacific Rim, Filinvest City, Alabang. The run will hold the following categories – 5k, 10k and 21k. Each participant will receive a racing kit, which includes a singlet, medal, a race bib and finishers medal. Aside from the kit, runners will also get loot bags, and a chance to participate in different games and activities provided by the event sponsors.
