Regal Entertainment ended 2024 with a love story via their MMFF 2024 movie entry "My Future You" and opens 2025 with a cinematic horror event, "The Caretakers!"
Yes, "The Caretakers" is the first Filipino horror film of 2025. And yeah, horror flicks and series are yours truly's favorite. Definitely, I wouldn't missed my chance to watch this film on the big screen.
Knowing Regal Entertainment or Regal Films which is known to be the "House of Horror" because they truly gave us the best horror movies and timeless classic horror flicks such as the iconic "Shake, Rattle, and Roll" franchise, this movie firm always exceed our expectations in terms of the horror genre. And again, "The Caretakers" exceed my expectations!
To make it easier to digest to my avid readers, I list down my reasons why "The Caretakers" is a must see horror movie opening salvo of 2025. And these are the following:
A perfect chemistry of Iza Calzado and Dimples Romana! Though this is their very first time to work together in the big screen, their tandem is a perfect combination - they are both protagonist and antagonist at the same time! Their acting skills were trully 'namlalamon' in every scenes!
First time to see Marco Masa and Ashley Sarmiento or AshCo working together in one project but not as a love team. No kilig at the moment but they nailed it giving us a thrilling and frightening experience!
The movie gives an equal spotlight to the cast members. They didn't focus only on the lead cast members or to the big names in the industry. They even give importance to all the characters in the movie!
I love the movie poster! Movie poster pa lang matatakot ka na! It is so creative and powerful! It is a high caliber that can be lineup to the international films! Thumbs up to the creator or artist of this movie poster!
The movie tells us different kinds of love - a mother's love, a love to the family, and a love to the nature or nature's love.
An unexpected twist and ending of the movie! 'Ung akala mo is 'un na, may mas titindi pa pala sa dulo! And everyone of us in the movie house didn't expect it!
The creepy settings of the movie add more frightening experience! 'Ung lumang bahay na mala-haunted house and the forest na puno nang engkanto - talagang mas matatakot ka!
The movie even tackles supernatural beliefs. 'Ung mga pamahiin lalo na sa mga hindi natin nakikita were also well-explained in the movie.

Starring Iza Calzado and Dimples Romana in their mothering performances, 'The Caretakers' also features young stars Marco Masa, Ashley Sarmiento, Althea Ruedas, Erika Clemente, Erin Espiritu, and special participation from content creators Inka Magnaye and Jake Taylor.
The movie is under the direction of Shugo Praico and is produced by Regal Entertainment and Rein Entertainment. And yes, it is currently hitting the cinemas nationwide since its opening day last February 26, 2025.
